How To Remove And Replace Your Toshiba Laptop Keyboard
The following instructions can be used to replace any model.

Step 1: Turn Off Your Laptop

Before you remove the keyboard, please turn off your laptop. Make sure that the computer is not in Standby/Sleep/Hybernation mode. After you switch the computer off, remove all connecting cords and devices that are attached to it. Now remove the battery from its compartment by pulling off the compartment cover.

Step 2: Gather Materials

Gather everything you will need to remove and replace the keyboard. You should have the laptop, the replacement keyboard, the flathead screwdriver, a Phillips-head screwdriver, and a small cup or container. This prevents you from having to move around unnecessarily and generating static, which could damage the laptop’s motherboard. So, before you begin removing the keyboard, ground yourself by touching any unpainted metal object.

Step 3: Remove The Laptop Frame

The screws that hold the keyboard in place are hidden underneath the laptop’s frame. You will need to take your flathead screwdriver and insert it in the slot at the top-right and top-left end of the frame directly above the keyboard to lift the laptop’s frame. Lift it high enough so that you can use your hands to gently remove it from the laptop.

Step 4: Remove The Screws

The screws can now be easily seen. Use you Phillips-head screwdriver to remove all the screws that are securing the keyboard to the laptop. Put the screws into your cup or container so that you don’t lose them.

Step 5: Remove The Keyboard

Flip the keyboard down towards you so that the keys are now facing your work surface. This exposes a flat cable that is connected to the motherboard and the keyboard. Carefully pull out the tabs to release the flat cable from its port. Then gently pull out the cable without damaging it in anyway. The keyboard should now be completely removed from the laptop.

Step 6: Install The Replacement Keyboard

Take the replacement keyboard and place it face-down on your work surface so that you can see its flat cable. Carefully insert the cable into the port on the motherboard. Flip your new keyboard over and put it in place on top of the laptop. Make sure the holes that contained the screws are perfectly lined up with the holes in the laptop. Remove the screws from your cup or container and insert them to secure the keyboard to the laptop. Then, snap the laptop’s frame back into its place on top of the keyboard.

Step 7: Test The Replacement Toshiba Laptop Keyboard

Replace the battery and the connect the cords and devices that you removed in Step 1. Turn on the laptop. At the log-in screen, type your password. If you can your password successfully, then the keyboard is installed correctly. If you can’t type your password, then repeat steps 1 – 7 carefully.
